The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI) in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts-National Committee on Library and Information Services (NCCA-NCLIS) and the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) will be celebrating the 83rdNational Book Week from November 24 to 30, 2017 with the theme “LIBRARIES TAKE ACTION: PROVIDING ACCESS AND OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL”.
A regional selection for Region 6 for the poster-making contest for college students and essay writing contest for high school students was held at West Visayas State University Learning Resource Center last Sept. 9, 2017.
There were thirty-three (33) high school students who participated for the essay-writing contest, and fourteen (14) regional participants joined the poster-making contest. Among them, three winners were chosen for each category, and each received Two-thousand pesos (Php 2,000.00) in cash, and certificates of recognition. Essays written by Ms. Eugenie Baluran (Iloilo National High School), Mr. Lief Mathieu Tobias, and Feddirick Erl Plamiano (both from Cabatuan National Comprehensive High School) , and posters made by Kyle Dominic Sarte (University of San Agustin), Rosemarie Mirando (University of Antique), and Marlo Soriano (West Visayas State University) were chosen by the judges. Their entries were sent for the National Competition, which will be judged on November, 2017.
